    Capacity:
    Find Your Footing
    in the Overwhelm
    of Deconstruction

    Nothing in you is broken.

Since you started questioning, have you noticed you only seem to have two speeds? The spinning: awake at 1 a.m. with a dozen tabs open, bingeing deconstruction podcasts and books, hoping that if you can just understand it all, it will finally stop hurting. And the flat: numb and on autopilot, scrolling for hours, avoiding the things you used to love, moving through your days without really feeling them.

You don’t have a discipline problem. You have a nervous system that’s been through a collapse. That’s not a flaw. That’s biology doing its job, and it’s where we start.

    Deconstruction narrows the window.

Your nervous system has a zone where you can think clearly, feel your feelings without drowning in them, and actually reach your creative life. Researchers call it the “window of tolerance.” Inside the window, you’re here: present, curious, able to play.

    Above the window

    The spin

Fight-or-flight. Anxiety, urgency, perfectionism, five browser tabs of theology at midnight.

    Inside the window

    Here

Present and steady. Able to feel without flooding, and able to reach your creative life again.

    Below the window

    The fog

Shutdown. Numbness, flatness, the blank page you can’t face.

When the belief system that organized your entire world starts to fall apart, your nervous system doesn’t know the difference between my theology is changing and I am in danger. It fires the same alarms. It contracts. The window gets smaller.

And if you grew up in high-control religion, there’s a tender extra layer: you were taught your body’s signals were untrustworthy. Which means the very instrument we use to widen the window, your body and her wisdom, is the one you were taught not to listen to. If coming back to your body feels like breaking a rule, that’s not a sign you’re doing it wrong. That’s the old programming noticing what we’re up to.

Capacity is about making the window wider, so there’s more room for your feelings, your questions, and who you’re becoming.

    Three Weeks: Map, Widen, Hold

Body first, then words, then practice. We notice what’s happening, give it your language, and build a way back you can actually keep.

    1

    Map

We name where you are: the three states of your nervous system, in your own words. And we name what deconstruction did to your window, so you can stop treating biology like a personal failing.

    2

    Widen

We build your toolkit. Breath, voice, movement, anchors, and the small moments of safety your body can actually feel. All of it tested in session, in your real body, not just read about.

    3

    Hold

We build the practice you keep: a plan for good days, hard days, and the worst days. You leave with your Capacity Map, everything you have learned about your own system, on one page, in your words.

    What You Leave With

A map of your own nervous system

Your three states in your own language, so you stop being ambushed by them. Naming is the beginning of room.

A toolkit for the hard moments

Body-based practices small enough to survive your worst days. Not a routine to keep up with. A way back.

Your body as an ally again

A gentler, steadier relationship with the body you were taught to distrust. She has been keeping the record the whole time.

    Room to create again

The creative self needs a nervous system that feels safe enough to be seen. As the window widens, the making comes back.

    Who Capacity Is For

    It is for you if:

    • Deconstruction has left you swinging between spinning and shutting down, and you want to understand why.
    • You are tired of treating this like a discipline problem, and you are ready to work with your body instead of against it.
    • You are willing to go slow and let this be about your nervous system before it is about your beliefs.
    • You want steadier ground, either as a foundation before deeper coaching or as a place to stand right where you are.

It is not for you if:

    • You are in active crisis. Please start with a licensed therapist (I am happy to refer you). Coaching works best when your nervous system is not in survival mode.
    • You want a quick fix or a better routine to power through. This work is slower and gentler than that.
    • Body-based work does not appeal to you. This is body-first coaching all the way through.
    • You’d rather do this in community. That’s a preference, not a flaw. My group coaching might be your fit.
Carrie King, certified life coach specializing in faith deconstruction

    Hi, I’m Carrie.

I’m a certified life coach, and I started my own faith deconstruction twenty years ago. I can still feel some of it in my body all these years later, which is exactly why I built Capacity around the nervous system first.

My work is body-first and trauma-aware. I’m not a licensed therapist, and this isn’t trauma processing. We notice what your body is doing now, and we build ways to come back. Your body has been keeping the record the whole time. She is an ally, not the enemy.

If you’d like to get to know me a little better, you can read my story on my About page.

    Your Questions, Answered

No. This is coaching, not therapy, and not a substitute for mental health treatment. In our work, things from your past will surface, and I'll honor them gently, but we are not doing trauma processing. We notice what your body is doing now, and we build ways to come back. If you're in active crisis or working with trauma that needs clinical care, I'll encourage you to work with a licensed therapist first, and I'm glad to refer you.

Capacity is a foundation, not a cure. Your nervous system won't fully rewire in three weeks, and deconstruction doesn't resolve on a schedule. What you leave with is a map of your own system, a toolkit that works in real life, and the understanding that the narrowed window is not permanent and not a sign you're broken. The window widens with practice. Three weeks is enough to hand you the practice.

No. If you make things, you'll find this work speaks directly to the spinning and the blank page. But you don't need to call yourself creative to belong here. This is nervous-system work first. The creative life is one of the things that tends to come back as the window widens.

Most people haven't, and that's completely fine. You don't need any background in this. We start with plain-language noticing, in your body, at your pace. Nothing about it requires you to already be good at it.

Capacity is the gentlest place to begin. It steadies your nervous system so the deeper work can actually land. From there, Direction helps you separate what you were handed from what you actually want, and Practice helps you build a lasting creative life. Capacity asks “where am I?” Direction asks “where am I going?” Practice asks “how do I build it?”

No. You might be in the middle of questioning, you might have left years ago, or you might still attend and feel increasingly out of alignment. I meet you wherever you are. There's no prerequisite and no timeline.

Sessions are 60 minutes on Zoom. Before each one, I send you a short workbook to move through at your own pace. We meet and talk about what came up, what surprised you, and where your body was speaking loudest. Right after, I send you the next week's workbook and a small practice to carry with you.

We meet on Zoom. It's free; you can sign up for an account here. You don't need a paid Zoom plan to join. I'll email you the meeting link before each session, and clicking it brings you straight into our room. If you've never used Zoom before, reach out and I'll happily help you get set up beforehand.

Yes. For Capacity, I can split the $825 into two payments. Just let me know at your consult and we'll set it up.

I'll refund the rest of your package, no hard feelings. And every package starts with a free 30-minute consult, so we can catch a mismatch before you ever pay.

Don’t see your question here? Reach out. I’d love to answer it.

    Nothing in you is broken.

You just have to show up.
If Capacity is your next step,
I’d be honored to walk it with you.
